ACCESS & SECURITY
Fulwood Barracks remains an active military establishment, and maintains necessary and appropriate security arrangements including control of access. This will not unduly impede your visit to the Museum.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ADULT VISITORS WILL BE ASKED TO PRODUCE POSITIVE PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION, SUCH AS A UK PHOTO-ID DRIVING LICENCE.

Security is always important but at times there may be a need for increased vigilance. This may result in some restriction on visitors or even alterations to opening times, at short notice.
​
On arrival at the Main Gate, please visit the Guardroom, where you will be issued with personal visitor passes for each member of your party and directed to the Museum.
​
If arriving by car, please halt temporarily in one the lay-bys in front of the Main Gate before visiting the Guardroom. Once issued with your passes, you will be directed to the Barracks' ample FREE parking area.
DISABLED ACCESS
The Museum Trustees are committed to providing full access for all visitors.
​
The Grade II listed building in which the Museum is housed is over 170 years old with construction characteristics typical of its mid-Victorian origins. It has been modified to provide wheelchair access via a special fully-ramped entrance and a through-floor wheelchair-user-operated lift to the first floor.
​
All public areas are now accessible to wheelchair users. Museum staff are always ready to help disabled visitors wishing to see specific items from the archives, which are held in an area which cannot physically be made accessible, by making them available to examine in the public areas.

A disabled-access toilet is available on the ground floor.
​
Ample FREE parking for disabled vehicles is available within Fulwood Barracks.
